dc.description.abstract A Public Road By Private Initiative: A major road improvement project is underway for Beira Road in Mombasa, led by three companies: Bamburi Cement, Howard Humphreys (Kenya) Ltd, and Portland Cement. This initiative, which will cover 1,000 square meters in the first phase, aims to address potholes and enhance road quality. The project is set to begin in April and is expected to be a pioneering effort in East Africa. Leading Ladies Candle Lighting Ceremony: The Kenya Business and Professional Women's Club held its first Candle Lighting ceremony at the InterContinental Hotel in Mombasa. The event was attended by prominent women, including Mrs. Zainab Hall and Mrs. Evelyne Mutua, who are recognized for their contributions to the community. Kamal Khan- Distinguished Educator and Author: Kamal Khan, a respected educator and author, passed away suddenly. He was known for his contributions to education in East Africa and for his work in promoting the Swahili language. Khan was a versatile teacher and an advocate for liberal education, having authored several books and articles on various subjects – Reported by Faraj Dumila. A Channel For Likoni : International consortia are proposing a significant infrastructure project to build a two-lane tunnel across the Likoni channel. This project aims to replace the existing Likoni Ferry Service and could transform Mombasa's status as an island. The scheme, estimated at 2 billion Kenya shillings, is supported by major international and local companies and is expected to alleviate traffic and connectivity issues- Reported by Gray Phombeah.
