dc.description.abstract Kenyans Celebrate 10 Years of Nyayo Era: Across Kenya, millions are preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Nyayo Era and the country's Silver Jubilee. Coastal regions like Mombasa, Taita-Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River have planned a series of official and private events. Notable contributions for these festivities have been made, including a donation of KSh 70,000 from Somchand Transporters and contributions from other firms like the Matatu Vehicle Owners Association and Kenya Power and Lighting Company. The spirit of Harambee has been highlighted as a key factor in Kenya's transformation. Lions Club Hosts Athletic Meeting for Disabled: The Lions Club of Mombasa, Pwani, has organized a sports event for the disabled and handicapped, which will take place on October 9 at the Municipal Stadium. The event is part of the Nyayo Era celebrations and is intended to uplift those with disabilities. The District Governor of the Lions Club has called on all Mombasa residents to attend and support the event. French Navy Visit Mombasa: The French Navy replenishment tanker MEUSE is scheduled to dock in Mombasa on October 11, 1988. The MEUSE, commanded by Commander Michon, has a crew of 12 officers, 62 petty officers, and other personnel. This visit marks continued military cooperation between France and Kenya. Mombasa Seeks Answers to Water Problems: Mombasa is currently facing significant water shortages, which could negatively impact the tourism industry. The Mombasa and Coast Tourist Association (MCTA) has scheduled a meeting with the Provincial Water Engineer to discuss solutions. The situation will also be addressed at the next Tourist Advisory Committee meeting in Nairobi. en_US
