dc.description.abstract Election Results: The Coast elections showed a significant shift, with 50% of politicians losing their seats. Voter turnout was high, and the polling was described as peaceful and organized. Notable winners included Mwachiaro Kubo in Taveta and M. Mehare in Mwatate, along with Juma Boy in Matuga. Several incumbent politicians, such as Sheikh Said Hemed, were re-elected, while new faces emerged in the Tana River District – Reported by Faraj Dumila. Tourism Promotion Success: Kenya's tourism received a boost at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) held in West Berlin, with one in ten tourists to Black Africa visiting Kenya. The country's tourism earnings rose by 16% compared to the previous year. The event attracted numerous exhibitors, showcasing the nation's tourism potential. Proposed Flights: A proposed flight from London to Kenya, dubbed the "Fantasy Flight," was canceled, disappointing those in the tourism industry. The flight was initially advertised as an all-inclusive package. Safari Rally Souvenirs: The preparation for the Safari Rally was underway, with various souvenirs from the 1988 rally, including T-shirts and keyrings, set to be available at DT.
