New Marine Park: The Kenya Government has established the Mombasa Marine National Park and the surrounding Mombasa Marine National Reserve to protect coral reefs, shells, and tropical fish along the Shanzu-Bamburi Reef. Fishing and shelling are strictly prohibited, but visitors can enjoy snorkeling and boat tours. The reserve covers approximately 200 square kilometers, extending from Whitesands Hotel to Mtwapa Creek and further into the Indian Ocean. Conservationists have welcomed this move to preserve marine life. Fashion Model Khadija Adam Visits Diani Beach: International fashion model Khadija Adam, a former Miss Kenya and Miss Africa (1984), enjoyed a brief holiday at Diani Beach. She was accompanied by fellow top model Laetitia, the daughter of a famous fashion designer from France. The pair enjoyed sailing, visiting nature trails, and having fun with wildlife, including a snake at Shimba Hills Nature Trail. Death of Leading Kenyan Lawyer: One of Kenya's most senior advocates, John Edward Lesley Bryson, passed away on December 29, 1987, at Mombasa Hospital. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1915, Bryson was admitted as an advocate in Kenya in 1939. He served as Senior Partner at Bryson, Inamdar, and Bowyer and was a member of various prestigious legal committees in Kenya. He was also a former chairman of Mombasa Club and the Maasai Club.
