dc.description.abstract Lamu Service: The Kenya Posts and Telecommunications has completed installation of the new automatic telephone exchange in Lamu. It is expected to be fully operational by December 23, 1986. KANU Party Membership: Kenya's ruling party, KANU, has achieved a membership of 5 million out of a registered 5 million eligible members, surpassing one-quarter of the national population. Police Praised: The Malindi District Officer praised the local police for their successful efforts in curbing illegal operations in the town's tourism industry. This recognition was given during a presidential speech marking Jamhuri Day. Mohamed Amin Honored: Mohamed Amin has been awarded the Valiant Truth Award for 1986. The award, presented by General Eva Burrow of the Salvation Army at the London Arts Club, recognizes Amin’s fearless work in exposing the truth about African famine and his impact on global awareness and action. en_US
