dc.description.abstract Mombasa National Show: Excitement is building for the Mombasa National Show hosted by the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK). This major event, held at the Jomo Kenyatta Showground, Nyali, will run from August 28 to 31. The official opening will take place on Friday, August 29, with Shariff Nassir, KANU Mombasa District Chairman and Assistant Minister for Lands, leading the event. The show will feature livestock, dairy exhibits, and agricultural products, highlighting improvements over last year’s entries. Notably, a crocodile exhibit from Mamba Village is expected to be a standout attraction. 'Le Pichet' Fire Incident: The renowned Le Pichet, a top destination on the Coast, was engulfed in flames. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, which has caused significant damage to the establishment. Shimba Hills National Park Fencing: A 44-kilometer fence has been constructed around the Shimba Hills National Park to prevent wildlife, particularly game animals, from destroying nearby farm crops. This project, funded by the World Bank, aims to protect both wildlife and local agriculture. Cotton Bonanza in Bura: Farmers in Bura have achieved a cotton harvest valued at over Shs. 35 million, signaling a major success for the region’s agricultural sector. The emphasis on small-scale farming has contributed to this boom, with efforts aimed at improving Kenya’s cotton industry. 'Million Minutes of Peace' Campaign: A global peace initiative called the Million Minutes of Peace is underway, urging individuals worldwide to take part in a collective effort to foster peace. The project emphasizes the power of thought and its potential to influence global leaders and decision-makers in promoting harmony and preventing conflict. en_US
