Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Conservation: The Arabuko-Sokoke Forest is recognized by Bird Life International as the second most important forest for bird conservation in mainland Africa. This unique forest, located in coastal Kenya, is under threat from illegal logging and charcoal burning, particularly affecting the Cynometra forest and adjacent woodlands. The conservation community is raising concerns about these activities, which could lead to the loss of critical habitats for many bird species and other wildlife. The Friends of Fort Jesus shared updates on their recent and upcoming activities. This includes community engagement events such as cake funds for local orphanages and organizing walks to raise awareness and funds for conservation. One notable event is a walk scheduled through the Tsavo National Park, aimed at bringing the community together to support local conservation efforts- Newsletter Notes from the Friends of Fort Jesus
