Shekhar Mehta the safari superstar: Shekhar the record brekhar!!  on Monday afternoon as he drove his Datsun 160 onto the finish ramp, Shekhar Mehta created two new records for the safari rally. An incredible hat-trick of first overall for three consecutive years, and the only man to win the safari four times- Special safari report from John Gardiner. Lamu D.C. at hotel awards: The Lamu D.C. Mr. George Miini has called on people in the tourism industry to give their best service so that tourists make a repeat visit to Kenya. Russian deep-sea salvage vessels visit Kilindini: The appearance of a Russian deep-sea salvage tug in Kilindini is somewhat unusual I refer to the 740-ton zubr which arrived at ‘C’ anchorage to be a dredging pontoon loaded with equipment.

Kenya may lift the hunting ban: Kenya authorities are giving serious consideration to revoking the four-year-old ban on the hunting of big game. Legislation to this effect is expected to be introduced shortly before parliament-Exclusive news analysis. RO-RO vessel runs up on Red Sea Reef: It is indeed sad news to learn of the stranding of any vessel but when this occurs to a vessel on her maiden voyage such news is made that much worse. The 5,600 gross ton Lloyd Triestino RO-RO vessel Adria,  sister ship to the Apulia, which called at Mombasa on her maiden voyage a month or two ago, went aground forward on a reef at the approaches to Aquaba with 3600 tons of general cargo and containers on board-Shipping with John Walters.
