Three months to clear port: Port of Mombasa is to be de-congested in 100 days to prevent the country from losing more port business to Tanzania, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) announced mid this week. KMSF sets date for Africa concours D’Elegance event: The Kenya Motor Sport Federation (KMSF) has allocated September 30th as the date for the annual Africa Concours D’Elegance which will be the 42th in the series organized by the Alfa Romeo, owners Club, Annual celebration in Lamu. Once again Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals KAMMP in conjunction with Riyadha Mosque and Islamic Center in Lamu and Kenya Red Cross Society intends to organize a free medical camp and provide voluntary counselling and testing services during the annual Maulid celebrations on the 16th to 18th February 2012. Elephant poachers kill wildlife ranger: Elephant poachers have shot dead an unarmed wildlife ranger in Voi, according to Kenya Wildlife Services. Emirates flights to Rio, Buenos Aires: Emirates, one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines, has extended its South American network by linking Nairobi with Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro through its Dubai hub, further broadening the airline’s reach across the Americas. The once lovely Carlton Hotel on Moi Avenue was a superb example of ‘art deco’ architectural style: Distressingly, one of Mombasa’s landmark historic buildings, the former ‘Carlton Hotel’, on Moi Avenue, has been razed to the ground, presumably to pave the way for a new construction - Newsletter Notes from the  Friends of Fort Jesus.
