Inside this issue: Relax-no shortage of beer: Mombasa (K.N.A.)- The manager of Kenya Breweries Mombasa branch Mr. J. Kagiri has assured Mombasa residents of enough beer in the bars “as soon as they can be collected from the deport”. Mr. Jonathan D. Mturi, has been appointed managing director of the Kenya Ports with effect from February 28, 1980. He replaces Mr. John Gituma, now permanent secretary in the ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Errol on food: This old traditional dish, sung about in nursery rhymes, does not often appear at the modern tables with either pork or sausages, though this is what it complements best. Inside this issue: Mohamed ali now in mecca: A Former World champion heavyweight boxer Muhammad Ali has arrived in Jeddah. At the start of a motor sales promotion, accommodation by his wife and father, Zabaglione: A sort of cream mousse originating from Italy which may be used to coat hot pudding but is more frequently served alone in stemmed glasses or cups. In French this is Sabayon, a corruption of the Italian zabaglione which is defined as being a concoction of egg yolks, sugar, wine and flavoring, cooked while beating to make it thicken, Kelly brown say sorry: Disappointed at not finding the time to visit his hometown during his short action-packed three-week working holiday, Mombasa born Kelly Brown has decided to pass his greetings through the mail to several friends and relatives in town, Indian music concert: Lovers of India music have a treat in store for them when Sneh Puri- a versatile and talented singer of classical, semi-classical, ghazals, thumris and bhajans-gives her first and only performance at the Little Theatre Club, Mombasa, on Saturday, March 1, M\Lamu maulidi: Lamu (K.N.A.) – Thousands of Muslims gathered in Lamu to attend the annual Maulidi in remembrance of the birth of Prophet Mohammed. The celebrations, which culminated with prayers at Riadha Mosque, were proceeded by traditional ngomas staged around the mosque.

Inside this issue: Student go on stricke: The recent spate of unrest in Secondary Schools in the Country has spilled over the to the Coast Province, where students at Waa Secondary School have boycotted classes and gone into an orgy of violence, extensively damaging school property, Beer banned but the drinking goes on: Kwale (K.N.A.)- Since the closure of all local ‘pompe’ (beer) clubs in Kwale District Last year, small ‘pompe’ clubs of two popular local brews known as ‘Mnazi’ and ‘mkoma’ have illegally started mushrooming all over the area, Norman hardy dies: Well known Kenyan hotelier Norman Hardy has died in Mombasa after suffering a heart failure, Mr. Hardy, 65 was General Manager since 1974 of the Bamburi Beach Hotel, Petit pois: Having made my rather provocative remark about Mangetout,  or sugar peas as they are also known, last week, I had better confirm that they are grown in Kenya very successfully for export. Presumably if one nags at one’s favorite green grocer they could be bought in Nairobi and Mombasa as well, Top computer salesman is a woman: The solar eclipse-viewed from Nairobi’s tall Hilton Hotel made a spectacular start for 21 top sales people from the world who have qualified for membership of International Computer Diamond Club. Among them was the first lady salesman Julie Turnbull from Montreal Canada, Mombasa movies: Talent and beauty are part and parcel of success especially if one is to ascend the “ladder of fame”-and one Hollywood star, with such an achievement worth mentioning is Elizabeth Montgomery daughter of thirties and forties screen star Robert Montgomery
