Disaster at sea:&#13;
The sudden sinking of a large British freighter in the ‘English Channel’ has sent shock-waves through Kenya’s insurance and re-insurance establishments-with an expectant loss of many millions of shillings.&#13;
Cargo figure ‘best of any month in 1979’&#13;
The total tonnage of dry general cargo handled at the port of Mombasa during October was approximately 199,911 deadweight tons.&#13;
New plans for water treatment:&#13;
The Tanzanian government is to establish a national water treatment program for the rural areas with a view of supplying high quality water to the peasants.&#13;
Two more vessels for Kigoma:&#13;
Construction has started on the Lake Tanganyika passenger and cargo ship m.v. Mwongozo and an oil barge, m.v. Sankara.&#13;
Big expansion program on cattle dips:&#13;
Sh.s 27 million is being spent in building cattle dips in coast province, and more than 135 may be completed by the end of next month.&#13;
Huge world bank development aid:&#13;
Loan and investment commitments amounting to $10,435,9 million were made to developing countries by the world bank and its two affiliates during fiscal 1979.&#13;
 ‘Seahorse club’&#13;
